Gavin Kelly

Gavin Kelly is an established journalist whose expertise spans sports, recreation and outdoor publishing. Gavin is also an active-duty firefighter and emergency first responder with over 15 years of operational experience in rescue environments. He previously served in the Royal Air Force as a Physical Training and Rehabilitation Instructor and a trained Mountain Leader, specialising in survival, navigation, and human performance in high-risk terrain.
He holds a BSc (Hons) in Sport Rehabilitation, with expertise in acute injury assessment, biomechanics, and field-based recovery. His writing draws on frontline emergency response, clinical injury management, and backcountry operations to produce field-tested guidance on first-response scenarios, wilderness safety, and physical readiness for the outdoors.
