Matt is a former U.S. Marine, who holds a masters in journalism from the University of Florida. He taught writing for digital media at the University of Miami for 14 years, and is the former Miami editor for Thrillist. He also worked at the senior staff writer at Matador Network, and has won awards from the North American Travel Writers Association, the Society of American Travel Writers, and South Dakota's A.H. Pankow Award for journalism, presented by then-governor Kristi Noam. He currently lives in Miami.
