Ted Nugent has officially been inducted into the Michigan Outdoor Hall of Fame.

Best known to many for his hard-charging rock anthems, Nugent has been just as influential in the outdoor world.

The Michigan Outdoor Writers Association named him an inductee into the 2026 Michigan Outdoor Hall of Fame for his tireless efforts to promote hunting, gun ownership and the outdoor lifestyle in Michigan and beyond.

Although known nationally as a rock star, Ted Nugent's true passions are hunting, fishing and conservation.

Ted Nugent’s Outdoor Voice Has Reached Millions

Articulate and unmistakable in tone, Nugent has long been recognized for taking even complex topics and presenting them in a clear, compelling way.

He’s credited with influencing millions through his passion for the outdoors, and his work has appeared in prominent books, magazines and digital outlets around the world.

Nugent advocates an outdoor lifestyle that puts him in touch with family and God, and he's passionate about people eating food they've grown or harvested in the wild.

Previous Hall of Fame inductee Fred Bear lives on through Nugent’s song “Fred Bear,” which introduced new generations to the father of modern bowhunting.

“Blessed to be raised in the wilds of Michigan by the hand of God, my wonderful father and His Majesty Fred Bear, the mystical flight of the arrow and the reverence for wildlife called my name from birth and guided me on my TruNorth compass setting in life. Even more than Chuck Berry!

Ted Nugent is unapologetic about his love of hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Nugent is an avid bowhunter and fisherman who advocates for the outdoors lifestyle every chance he gets.

“I am honored and humbled and extremely grateful to join the inner circle of the real Michigan Spirit of the Wild hands-on conservation Blood Brothers of the Michigan Outdoor Hall of Fame!” Nugent said.

Why the Michigan Outdoor Hall of Fame Honor Fits Ted Nugent

The MOWA Outdoor Hall of Fame recognizes Michigan outdoors communicators, authors and others who have inspired generations in the outdoors. Inductees demonstrate statewide, regional and national significance and have made a lasting impact on outdoor sports over their lifetimes.

Nugent has carved out a permanent place in rock and roll history, selling more than 40 million albums, performing more than 7,000 high-octane concerts, and being named Detroit’s Greatest Guitar Player of All Time by MLive readers.

Ted Nugent's recent induction into the Michigan Outdoor Hall of Fame is a well-deserved honor.

Ted Nugent's 10MM Samurai Speech

Ted is a long-time friend of Hook & Barrel Magazine and we've ran a number of stories alongside the Motor City Madman.

He's been a long-time hunting advocate and even won Hook & Barrel's prestigious Top Shelf Award for his article on clean and sober living.

But readers of our magazine may well be familiar with comments Nugent made on safely and effectively carrying a 10MM, as is his Second Amendment right.

"The Second Amendment guarantees a God-given right to keep and bear arms," Nugent told Hook & Barrel.

"Keep means it's mine. You can't have it. Bear, means I got a couple on me right now, and they're 10mm, and they're loaded.

"Why the 10mm? Well, if you want a really powerful weapon, go for a .30-06.

"But if you want a daily carry, you must be confident. You must be a samurai with the familiarity and comfort with the handgun that can make the difference between you getting to the next birthday party or family celebration."

Ted Continues His Legendary Outdoor Advocacy Today

Ted also serves as national spokesman for Hunter Nation, uniting hunters to protect God, family and country. A New York Times bestselling author, Nugent’s books include Ted, White & Blue: The Nugent Manifesto, God, Guns & Rock ‘n’ Roll, Kill It & Grill It, BloodTrails and BloodTrails II.

His award-winning television show, Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild, is the most-watched series on The Pursuit Channel. The Ted Nugent Spirit Campfire airs on Real America’s Voice on Saturdays at 3 p.m. Eastern and Sundays at 1 a.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern.
