Nocpix RICO 3 PRO First Look: Autofocus Comes to Thermal Sights

Predator hunters have something to be super-pumped about. Nocpix’s RICO 3 PRO is the industry’s first thermal weapon sight to feature autofocus capability.

Built upon the proven RICO 2 platform, the RICO 3 PRO is engineered to keep hunters focused on finding, identifying and engaging critters faster than ever before. At the RICO 3 PRO’s core is a 640×512 12μm Nocpix thermal sensor paired with a high-resolution 2560×2560 circular AMOLED display. Users can expect exceptional clarity, enhanced contrast and refined target detail even in challenging environmental conditions.

How the Nocpix RICO 3 PRO Autofocus Works

The autofocus technology utilizes data from the upgraded 1,600-yard laser rangefinder to instantly deliver a sharp image at the press of a button. The enhanced rangefinder also provides faster reading speeds and improved small-target detection performance, which can pay dividends when hunting’s “moments of truth” arrive.

Ocular Zoom 2.0 Adds More Magnification Control

The RICO 3 PRO’s Ocular Zoom 2.0 combines optical enlargement of the high-resolution display with smooth digital magnification beyond 2× power. A generous 70mm eye relief and intelligent UI magnification maintain natural reticle sizing and full interface visibility throughout the zoom range.

Ballistic Calculator and Remote Control

The RICO 3 PRO also features an onboard ballistic calculator that works with the integrated rangefinder. The unit provides drop corrections in MOA or inches using real-world ballistic data optimized for popular hunting rifle calibers.

An intuitive interface combines with a customizable wireless remote control, allowing hunters to range targets, activate autofocus and make fine magnification adjustments without breaking shooting position.

Purpose-built for overnight hunting, the RICO 3 is powered by the NBP-8 battery, delivering up to 10 hours of runtime per charge and up to seven hours of operation in temperatures as low as -4°F. A redesigned quick-access battery door allows for faster battery swaps in complete darkness, helping keep hunters in the field longer and focused on the hunt.

The RICO 3 also features a magnetic charging port and recoil-activated video recording, adding to a package designed specifically around the needs of nighttime hunters.
