Riflescope Review: EOTECH Vudu 3-9×32 SFP

EOTECH’s Super Short (6.8 inches!) Super-Versatile Scope Gets Tested With A Wilson Combat AR
There’s a quiet kind of confidence in gear that just works. No over-the-top branding, no flashy gimmicks, just precision where it counts. That’s exactly what I found in the EOTECH Vudu 3-9x32 SFP. During a recent field test with Wilson Combat’s Tactical Ultralight chambered in 300 Blackout, the Vudu proved itself to be more than just a lightweight scope option; it became an extension of the rifle itself. No unnecessary bells and whistles, just a simple and reliable performance.

The Vudu 3-9x32 is a purpose-built optic that thrives in the kind of environment where split-second decisions are the norm. But before I get ahead of myself, let's walk through what made this riflescope such a natural fit for one of the most streamlined Blackout builds I've run in a long time.
Vudu 3-9x32 SFP In The Field
It was the compact design of this new launch that initially made me curious. After all, most of us have seen plenty of small optics that don’t live up to the hype when it comes to clarity or field of view. Looking through the XC high-density glass that composes this Vudu, it was obvious that it wasn’t your average second focal plane scope. Even at a maximum of 9x magnification, image resolution remained crisp. Edges were sharp, with no noticeable distortion or edge blurring. This level of clarity makes a big difference, especially when transitioning back and forth between varying lighting conditions. From open fields to underbrush, the Vudu tracked movement with ease.

The light transmission was also impressive. Shooting into golden hour, the reticle and target remained easy to track, even as the sky grew dim as the sun dipped below the horizon. Being a second focal plane scope, the BDC reticle remains consistent in size through all magnifications. While SFP isn’t everyone’s go-to these days, it’s a smart choice for a compact scope like this, especially for rapid acquisition in the field. The BDC design is intuitive and clean, and while it’s optimized for 5.56, I found the holdovers still very usable with 300 BLK.
Mounting The Vudu 3-9x32 SFP
Mounting the scope is straightforward thanks to its integrated Picatinny adapter, which provides a user-friendly interface with any standard rail. During testing, I appreciated how quickly it locked in place and maintained zero even after transport and handling. For those looking to expand their optic setup, EOTECH also offers the Vudu with an optional EFLX Mini Red Dot sight and mounting kit, allowing you to attach the red dot directly to the riflescope. This dual-optic configuration is perfect for shooters who want the flexibility of fast target acquisition at close range with the precision of magnified optics for longer shots, all without cluttering the rifle with excessive mounts or hardware.

The Vudu's turrets are capped, preventing any unintended adjustments while running and gunning. Click values sit at 0.25 MOA, and in my testing, they tracked consistently and predictably. I dialed in at 100 yards, and the scope's zero held through several hours of range time with no shift, even after some “less-than-gentle” treatment to simulate real-world movement and transport. At 16 ounces with an overall length of 6.8 inches, the Vudu doesn’t throw off rifle balance, nor does it compromise durability. The forged aluminum housing gives it a rugged, field-ready build, and it’s both waterproof and fog-resistant, both important when working within conditions and climates.
Testing The EOTECH Vudu With WC’s 300 BLK Tactical Ultralight
Wilson Combat’s Tactical Ultralight is one of those rifles that manages to walk the line between workhorse and showpiece. Precision-machined, lightweight, and impeccably finished (mine in black because function comes first, although the camouflage option is quite sharp), it’s a platform designed to move. With its billet receiver set and M-LOK handguard, this rifle feels purpose-built for mobility. Chambered in 300 Blackout, it thrives in suppressed configurations and performs equally well for hunting or home defense. The barrel is match-grade, and the overall weight, even with optic and loaded mag, kept the setup easy to maneuver and quick to shoulder. Mounting the Vudu on top felt seamless. The scale of the optic matched the rifle’s profile perfectly, as there was no overhang or bulk. The scope allowed for natural eye alignment even during rapid transitions or unconventional shooting positions.

To get a better sense of how the Vudu performed in practical scenarios, I ran two types of ammunition during testing. First up was Wilson Combat’s 220-grain Sierra HPBT Subsonic. With this round, the rifle was nice and quiet when suppressed, and the recoil was negligible.
Accuracy at 100 yards was tight, with groups consistently under an inch, and the Vudu’s clarity made it easy to call impacts without needing a spotting scope. The reticle was sharp and easy to track against all backgrounds, even in lower light. Next, I loaded up a few magazines with Lehigh Defense’s 198-grain CF (Controlled Fracturing). These rounds are ideal for hunting applications where subsonic performance is desired while retaining optimal stopping power for harvesting game. Accuracy was just as good as compared to the previous loading tested. The Vudu held zero and continued to track flawlessly throughout our testing, and the reticle’s simple holdover structure made adapting to different drop rates intuitive.
If you’re thinking of adding a lightweight rifle platform to your collection, especially something in 300 Blackout or even 5.56/.223, the EOTECH Vudu 3-9x32 SFP would be a great addition to your build. This optic delivers exceptional glass clarity, reliably consistent tracking, and rugged housing in a package that won’t weigh down your setup. Mounted atop Wilson Combat’s Tactical Ultralight, the Vudu proved it’s more than just a run-of-the-mill 3-9; it’s a precision tool that adapts to both hunting and tactical demands. This optic did indeed stand up to all the hype surrounding it and enhanced the overall performance of the rifle. It’s rare to find an optic that offers the kind of balance and versatility that the Vudu 3-9x32 brings to the table. For shooters looking to streamline their setups without sacrificing quality, this scope offers a clear view of what’s possible when the right gear comes together.
