Federal Ammunition recently launched new additions to its HEAVYWEIGHT TSS turkey load lineup. The two new factory loads are 28-gauge in 2 3/4-inch and 3-inch, No. 9 shot and are currently being delivered to retailers nationwide.

“With HEAVYWEIGHT TSS, turkey hunters can have confidence in the effectiveness of sub-gauge offerings at the edge of extreme ranges, including 28-gauge,” said Federal’s Shotshell Product Line Manager Josh Vickers. “For several years, we have offered a 28-gauge, 2 3/4-inch turkey load option in our Custom Shop. But for 2025, we are loading factory loads in HEAVYWEIGHT TSS for 28-gauge. These will be in 2 3/4-inch and 3-inch, featuring No. 9 TSS shot.”

Federal Premium HEAVYWEIGHT TSS tungsten-alloy shot material’s 18 g/cc density is 56 percent more than lead, resulting in the highest pellet counts and the most energy at extreme range. Its rear-braking FLITECONTROL FLEX wad performs flawlessly through ported and standard turkey chokes for consistent, deadly patterns.

Other features include a roll crimp and over-shot card that keeps buffering material in place and full-length wads that prevent direct contact between the extra-hard pellets and the bore, protecting the barrel. Plus, a portion of the proceeds are donated to the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Check out the recently launched Federal Master Class Sporting Clay shotshells. This competition-level sporting clay load features a customized Podium wad that extracts peak performance from utilizing Federal’s straight-wall hull, reliable primers, high-antimony lead shot, and select propellant. HEVI-Shot recently expanded its 28-gauge Magnum Blend and HEVI-18 TSS turkey load options. HEVI-Shot’s two Magnum Blend 28-gauge options are 2 3/4- and 3-inch in No. 5, 6, 7 (combined) tungsten shot. The four HEVI-18 TSS 28-gauge options are 2 3/4- and 3-inch in both No. 7 and 9 TSS shot. All are currently being delivered to retailers nationwide.

“Following in the footsteps of the 410 Bore, 28-gauge turkey shotguns are now soaring in popularity,” said Scott Turner, HEVI-Shot’s Shotshell Product Manager. “In response to that trend, we released 3-inch, 28-gauge options in our popular HEVI-18 TSS and Magnum Blend tungsten turkey load lineups last year with great success. HEVI-Shot’s Magnum Blend combines No. 5, 6 and 7 shot, cast from 12 g/cc tungsten into one load. The heavy, high-density payloads offer as many as 448 pellets in a single 12-gauge 3-inch shell. The 12 g/cc tungsten shot carries far more energy than lead, extending the effective range and improving pattern density.
