After dominating the holographic optic space for years, EOTECH has successfully carved out a solid, highly respected spot in the niche market of super-short, variable-powered rifle scopes.

Modern shooters frequently demand highly versatile gear that reduces bulk without sacrificing long-range performance or structural integrity.

Recognizing this shift toward streamlined setups, EOTECH has engineered a host of feature-rich rifle scopes that provide outstanding performance, durability, and tactical accuracy, but in a ridiculously short package.

Well, they did it again with the new Vudu 4-12x36 FFP rifle scope, a marvel of compact optical engineering that changes how marksmen approach rail space management.

Summary
Vudu 4-12x36 ffp At a glance
  • Ultra-Compact Profile: The body measures only 7.1 inches long to fit short rifle systems or clip-on optics.

  • First-Focal Plane: The FFP design ensures the reticle sub-tensions remain proportional at any magnification.

  • Smart Illumination: A rotary dial offers 10 brightness settings with dedicated off positions between each notch.

  • Tool-Less Zeroing: Capped turrets adjust at 0.1 MIL clicks and easily pull up to reset to zero.

  • Unique Mounting: Reduced tube space utilizes a built-in bottom interface that adapts directly to mini-ACOG mounts.

EOTECH Vudu 4-12x36 FFP Review

EOTECH Vudu 4-12x36 FFP

The Vudu 4-12 measures in at only 7.1 inches long, making this scope ideal for short rifle systems with limited rails or to combine with clip-on night-vision or thermal optics.

Unlike the Vudu 3-9x32 predecessor, the 4-12 incorporates a first-focal plane design. In FFP scopes, the reticle is positioned at the front of the scope’s optical system, causing the reticle to appear to grow or shrink with the magnification.

This means that the sub-tensions of the reticle remain proportional to the target image, regardless of the magnification setting. This is preferred by professional users for long-range shooting and situations where quick adjustments or range estimation is needed.

The scope body is constructed of aircraft-grade aluminum to be a compact, lightweight, but still incredibly durable package that is fog-, water-, and shock-resistant.

The wide power band on the eyepiece makes transitioning from low to high magnification quick and easy, and the substantial boss feature makes it even faster.

The adjustable diopter at the rear of the optic allows precise focus for each user.

A rotary dial on the left side of the optic provides an illuminated reticle with 10 brightness settings to aid in low-light conditions.

Between each brightness setting is an OFF position, making it quick and easy to dial to your favorite setting. A CR2032 battery is located next to the rotary dial, providing roughly 300 hours of operation.

EOTECH Vudu 4-12x36 FFP

The 4-12 sports the same XC high-density, low-dispersion multi-coated glass as other Vudu optics, providing excellent light transmission and scene clarity.

The scope’s turrets offer one-tenth MIL adjustments and are both capped to protect from inclement weather or inadvertent adjustments. And once the scope is zeroed, the turrets can quickly be reset to zero by lifting them upward, setting to zero, and releasing.

To minimize overall length, EOTECH reduced the tube area typically used for mounting rings. Instead, a machined interface at the bottom of the scope will adapt to the included EOTECH mount, or any aftermarket mini-ACOG mounts, and mount directly on a mil-standard rail.

EOTECH Vudu 4-12x36 FFP

For those wanting a non-magnified solution, EOTECH offers an optional ring mount that can be attached to the slim front tube section to accept an EFLX. It can be positioned at the top or at 45-degree offsets to give you immediate transitions for close or moving targets.

Short and sweet, but packed with features and performance, the Vudu 4-12x36 super short rifle scope might just be the most versatile rifle scope on the market. To learn more about this or any other EOTECH product, visit eotechinc.com
