Whether you're look for soft tree yelps at fly-down, sharp cuts when your tom hangs up, or loud locator notes when you're closing in to strike, the rich array of turkey calls on show in Nashville was a turkey hunter's dream.

I got the chance to explore several of these works of art at NWTF 2026:
ShadeTree Callers
Hard-core turkey enthusiasts like Bob Fulcher’s premium hand-crafted friction calls with their unique square design that offer a fresh take on the traditional circular model. Bob also produces a unique box call that has a beautiful finish with engraving highlights.
Clay Townsend Turkey Calls
Another great custom call maker is Clay Townsend out of Fairmount, Georgia. One that especially caught my eye was the Townsend Yelper that operates much like a traditional wing-bone.
Greens Run Calls
Greens Run Calls was founded in 2006, and since then has developed a reputation for great-sounding products. Some of the best picks to consider include the walnut-aluminum pot, great for loud cutting yelps and crisp cutts and perfect for windy days and long-distance calling. The cherry-slate option is great for smooth yelps and close- to mid-range calling, and cherry-glass is ideal for sharp calling with great clarity.
In the diaphragm category, choose between the Beginner Series featuring the Cutback, Double D, and Ridge Runner; or Mark Six Signature Series’ Two-Reed Batwing, Three-Reed Batwing, and Signature Combo-Cut. Each produce excellent resonance.
T-Rex Custom Calls
The latest roundup of options from T-Rex Custom Calls made some buzz. It’s lineup of slate and glass calls are top-shelf, and the Dynawood pots look and sound sweet.
Wheat’s Game Calls
Another head-turner amidst the custom call market? Wheat’s Game Calls makes deer, duck and turkey calls, the latter especially interesting. It produces unique and colorful designs that hunters will enjoy running in the turkey woods and seeing on the shelf.
