Pairing the CZ USA 600+ American Bolt-Action Rifle with an EOTech VUDU 3.5-18x50 is a marriage made in hunting heaven.

From the outside, the CZ USA 600+ American is a timeless American sporter.

But cycle the bolt, and modern engineering unfolds: smooth controlled-round-feed action, user-adjustable trigger, modular barrel swaps for caliber changes, and CZ’s sub-MOA factory guarantee.

The writer paired the CZ 600+ American with an EOTech Vudu 3.5-18x50 and Black Hills Gold ammo

Pair this with the EOTech VUDU and suddenly you're handling one of the best hunting rigs on the market.

A modern classic in more ways than one, Hook & Barrel took the CZ 600+ American out on the range to wring it out.

CZ USA 600+ American Design

The CZ USA 600+ American blends classic aesthetics with modern engineering.

I’ve logged serious time on other bolt action rifles, and this variant delivers premium performance without uber premium pricing.

The Turkish walnut stock offers warm appeal synthetic can’t match, like a straight comb for perfect cheek weld and detailed checkering on the grip.

It's not ultralight (typically 7-8 pounds unloaded, caliber-dependent), but the weight tames recoil and boosts stability on bench or in the field.

CZ 600+ American Range Test Results

I got my hands on the new 2026 Black Hills Gold 6.5 Creedmoor with 142-grain Sierra MatchKing X or MKX for this review.

Black Hills pioneered 6.5 CM for military DMR reach beyond 7.62x51. Now hunters get that precision with MKX upgrades, like proven geometry, high BCs and enhanced terminal performance.

It's a no-compromise load: match grouping plus game-dropping expansion.

The 142-grain Hollow Point Boat Tail MatchKing X is a mirrored image of the renowned 142-grain MatchKing I have grown to trust and love, sharing the same ogive profile and external dimensions.

This means you can switch between precision match Sierra Match King to the new Sierra Match King X and not have to re-sight your rifle.

Engineered for reliable expansion at midrange velocities, the MKX delivers match-grade accuracy in a true hunting bullet.

With a high ballistic coefficient of 0.595 (G1), it mirrors the performance of its MatchKing counterpart in flight, while providing the terminal performance hunters demand.

With this load, three-shot groups averaged 1 inch at 100 yards on this new barrel.

From there, I dialed 6.0 MOA of elevation and consistently hit steel at 375 yards.

The cold-hammer-forged 24-inch barrel and patented controlled-feed action fed quietly, smoothly and reliably.

The trigger, adjusted to 1.75 pounds, is crisp, and one of the best factory triggers I have ever tested.

CZ 600+ American Benefits

Exceptional sub-MOA consistency: long-range capability, ethical shots and confidence.

Controlled-round-feed action: Aligns the projectile to the bore, prevents double feeds while reducing noise.

Modular: Caliber changes, no gunsmith needed. Two T-25 bolts hold the barrel to the receiver.

Stock: Thick and soft but pad, durable walnut with grippy checkering with a soft semi-gloss finish. Free-floated all the way to the receiver.

Detachable magazine: Can be locked to prevent accidental release while still able to be top-loaded via the chamber.

Factory-threaded: Flush, contour-matched thread protector, preserving barrel aesthetics while providing immediate compatibility with suppressors or muzzle devices.

The little things: I love the CZ brand logo on the sling studs. The cocking indicator is a nice touch. The fact that the trigger guard and magazine keeper are metal. The bolt tear-down is the easiest I have ever seen.

Where can the CZ 600+ American improve?

Silent safety: lacks visual feedback for Safe/Fire condition: muscle memory required (easy to forget pre-coffee).

I test if the rifle is on safe via the bolt handle, if it lifts, it’s ready to fire. If it won’t lift, then it’s on safe.

Barrel: threaded 9/16x24: While 1/2x28 and 5/8x24 are the most common thread patterns, 9/16x24 is often the more common choice for certain calibers and barrel contours.

It provides more shoulder and thread engagement than 1/2x28, while avoiding the unnecessary bulk of 5/8x24 on lighter-profile barrels.

For mid-caliber rifles, 9/16x24 strikes a practical balance between bore diameter and barrel wall thickness.

It maintains adequate material around the threads for strength and concentricity, both critical for suppressor alignment, without over-cutting the barrel or requiring a heavier contour just to accommodate larger threads.

EOTech Vudu 3.5-18x50: A Strong Option for the CZ 600+

To maximize the rifle’s long-range capability, particularly with Black Hills loads, I selected the EOTech Vudu 3.5-18x50 (VDU3-18SFC1, HC1 reticle).

The EOTech's versatile 3.5-18x magnification range provides excellent flexibility for both mid-range engagements and extended distances.

Built around a robust 34mm tube and featuring XC High-Density glass, the optic delivers exceptional clarity and light transmission.

Image quality is impressively sharp.

The EOTech Vudu 3.5-18x5 scope looks at home on the CZ 600+ American

The push-button illumination system is well thought out, and the HC1 reticle provides a crisp sight picture in low light.

Sourcing and installing the scope base was easy, as the CZ receiver is patterned after Remington 700. I used a Seekins Precision one-piece 7075-T6 aluminum 30 MOA Picatinny base and low rings.

The short 60° bolt throw provides generous clearance with low rings: no interference, perfect cheek-weld, no periscope posture like required in some 90° actions.

Sharp, color-accurate glass with tactile 0.25 MOA turrets track flawlessly with a positive zero stop; side parallax/illum knob feel intuitive.

This scope adds another 2.1 pounds yet balances well while providing generous eye relief.

This turns the CZ into a long-range capable rig.

Why the CZ 600+ American and EOTech Vudu Combo Delivers

Accuracy, reliability, and balance sit at the top of most hunters’ priority lists, and the CZ 600+ American delivers on all three.

It offers sub-MOA confidence, wrapped in classic walnut styling you’re proud to carry and have on full display at both the range and in the woods.

Topped with the EOTech Vudu to fully leverage the rifle’s inherent precision and fed a steady diet of Black Hills 142gr MKX for both reach and terminal performance.

CZ 600+ American FAQs

Q: What is the benefit of control round feed vs push feed?

A: Controlled-round feed (CRF) captures the cartridge from the magazine and maintains control of it all the way into and out of the chamber. This enhances feeding reliability and reduces the chance of double feeds—especially under rapid cycling or adverse conditions.

Push feed systems simply push the round into the chamber and the extractor must snap over the rim afterward the round has seated in the chamber.

Q: Does it really hold sub-MOA consistently across loads?

A: Yes. In my testing (and backed by CZ's guarantee), it delivered sub-MOA with match and premium hunting ammo. Even standard loads held 3/4 MOA.

Q: Is the aftermarket support?

A: Growing but still limited compared to Tikka or Remington 700. Scope bases are widely available thanks to the Remington 700 pattern receiver, but custom options lag.

Barrel swappable and the factory trigger are the big wins here. No heavy modifications are needed to achieve performance with the CZ600+ American.

Q: Any issues with the silent safety?

A: It's a pro for quiet stalks (no audible click that could alert game), but the lack of visual/tactile feedback means relying on position (up=safe, down=fire).

Practice dry-fires to build muscle memory. After a few sessions, it's second nature.

Q: What actions are available, and what calibers are available for that action?

A: To change the caliber of the CZ 600 Plus rifle, depending on selected calibers, it is always necessary to replace the barrel, and in some cases also the bolt head and the magazine.

Calibers can only be changed within the range of the groups of calibers for a given receiver size!

Q: Why would you change the barrel to a different caliber?

A: One example would be, say you own the CZ 600+ in .308 Win and have a child who is an up and comer hunter/target shooter, but the recoil is too much for the little one.

Simply order a .243 barrel as the .308 Win and .243 Winchester share the same parent case, so bolt replacement is not needed. In less than 10 minutes you have on average a 50% reduction in felt recoil.

Q: How easy is it to swap barrels on the CZ 600+ American?

A: Incredibly straightforward. Unload, remove two T25 screws that secure the stock to the action, pull the barreled action from the stock, loosen two T25 receiver liner screws, swap the barrel (and bolt head if changing action caliber family), reassemble.

Takes 5-10 minutes with basic tools; CZ includes instructions and a lifetime warranty on barrels. It's user-friendly, and a gunsmith is not required.

CZ USA 600+ American: Final Thoughts

The CZ 600+ American isn't just another bolt-action. It's a thoughtful marriage between classic American sporters and modern performance that your granddad would be proud of.

Have you ever strolled through a car show and spotted a pristine 1970s muscle car — sleek lines, chrome shining, pure classic — only to look under the hood to find a modern fuel-injected LS engine humming underneath? That 'wow' moment is exactly how I feel about the CZ 600+ American.

With its gorgeous Turkish walnut, whisper-quiet controlled-feed action, crisp adjustable trigger, user-swappable barrels, and reliable sub-MOA accuracy (proven in my range sessions with Black Hills Gold loads), it delivers premium feel and function at an accessible $1,000 MSRP.

Add a solid optic like the EOTech Vudu on Seekins mounts, and you've got a rig ready for the deer stand and long-range targets.

This rifle/optic/bullet combination shines in hunting scenarios: deer/elk in open Western terrain or thick Texas brush, feral pig control where precision matters, or as a do-it-all family gun that grows with you (swap calibers as personal needs change).

It's ideal for hunters who appreciate wood stocks and traditional lines but refuse to sacrifice reliability, quiet/controlled operation, or long-range capability.

No, it's not the lightest mountain rifle, and aftermarket is still playing catchup, yet what else could this combination possibly need?

For most of us, those are fair trade-offs for a rifle that feels heirloom-quality yet shoots like a modern PRS.

In short, if you're after a traditional sporter that’s quiet and humbly outperforms expectations, the CZ 600+ American is an excellent choice.

Backed by consistent real-world results and sub-MOA guarantee, it earned my top recommendation in the under-$1,000 class.

Grab one, pair it with EOTech glass and quality ammo like Black Hills, then get to the range.
