The Taurus RPC 9mm PDW was just launched, and it could be the company's most radical introduction to date.

The 9mm PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) market just got a big bump with Taurus’ first foray into the 9mm PDW shooting category. Meet the Taurus RPC 9mm, a super-compact PDW with an overall length of 12.2 inches, a weight of 5.3 pounds, a 32-round capacity, and the tried-and-true roller-delayed operating system.

Fans of Taurus will be happy to know that a full review of the new Taurus RPC is in the works at Hook & Barrel. For now, only folks attending the 2026 NRA Annual Meeting in Houston will be able to get their hands on this compact beauty.

The RPC blends proven ergonomics with modern capability

The RPC Blends Proven Ergonomics with Modern Capability

Blending proven ergonomics with modern capability and built to NATO standards, the Taurus RPC 9mm has been designed to be a reliable, adaptable platform that could fit the bill for home and personal defense.

Think the perfect truck gun, as well as some major shooting fun at the range, especially considering its robust 32-round magazine capacity.

Exceptionally versatile, its controls are fully ambidextrous with the bolt release/lock and magazine release easily reached from both sides. A reversible, non-reciprocating charging handle adapts to the shooter’s preferences.

The RPC is Taurus' first foray into the PDW market, and they came in full force.

For both looks and feel, the RPC sports a crisp, single-stage flat-face trigger and a rubber over-molded AR-15-compatible grip. The RPC is also equipped with three QD sling attachment points to keep the PDW safe and at the ready.

Additionally, the full-length Picatinny rail provides space for optics and enablers, while the M-LOK handguard allows users to set up the platform to fit their individual needs.

Taurus RPC Options

The recent Taurus GX4 collaboration with Strike Industries must have been a major success for Taurus. So much so that the new RPC is also available with a Strike Industries folding brace which will add to the overall shootabilty, comfort and accuracy. Plus, since it’s a folder, the RPC will stow and carry nicely wherever you take it.

To add more versatility to the platform, the RPC 9mm's 4.5-inch threaded barrel comes standard. The quick-charge barrel system adds flexibility for different configurations in the future.

In short, the new Taurus RPC is poised to be a gateway firearm that will only grow over time.
