Smith & Wesson has been constantly finding ways to improve its iconic M&P lineup, and the new Performance Center M&P 10mm M2.0 Compact Carry is a prime example of that steady evolution. This one is aimed at shooters who want the authority of 10mm but in a package that’s easier to carry.
The words “compact” and “10mm” rarely play well together in real life. While the concept sounds good on paper, the combo usually means painful recoil with tons of muzzle flip. But S&W engineered this setup to calm things down, using a ported barrel and slide to vent gas upward, reducing muzzle rise and taming some of that harsh recoil. It doesn’t turn the 10mm into a kitten, but it does make for faster, more controlled follow-up shots, especially for shooters running hotter loads.
The ported design also pushes gas away from mounted optics, so shooters can easily track their dot during longer strings of fire.
The Performance Center M&P 10mm also features a flat-face trigger, which promotes consistent finger placement and a clean, repeatable press. It’s predictable in a good way, making it easier to shoot accurately when a little speed is necessary.
