The Nomad Ti OTB silencer is the suppression answer hunters have been waiting for: quiet shooting with minimal length added to the barrel.
Suppressors in the hunting market have seen a major uptick ever since the tax stamp requirement was done away with.
And companies like Dead Air Silencers, with the recent introduction of its “overall rifle-length shortening” Nomad Ti OTB (over the barrel) can, are at the forefront of developing suppressor technology that will ultimately put more suppressed rifles in the hands of the hunting community.
Hook & Barrel Magazine’s senior editor Mark Chesnut gives his take on Dead Air’s new Nomad Ti OTB in this latest installment of H&B’s Editor’s Hot Pick.

The Nomad Ti OTB's Over-the-Barrel Design Breaks New Ground
I’ve never quite understood the old saying, “Coolest thing since sliced bread.” Before sharp blades, people just broke or tore loaves of bread into pieces to serve. Slicing made it easier to put into a bag, but that’s hardly a major world achievement.
That’s why I’ve refused to use the idiom when describing new hunting or fishing products over the past 40-plus years of my career. Until now. And a product that’s unique enough to make me change my entire way of thinking should catch your attention a little at least a little.

Nomad Ti OTB: Suppression Without Excessive Barrel Length
Allow me to introduce you to a new suppressor that’s definitely cooler than any slice of bread I’ve ever eaten: the Dead Air Silencers Nomad Ti OTB suppressor, which was also featured online in our February 2026 Digital Cover Exclusive.
So, what’s so great about it? For one thing, the OTB stands for over-the-barrel. For shooters, and especially hunters, wanting a suppressor but not wanting to add much length to their barrel, this is a game-changer.

Dead Air touts itself as the “manufacturer of the next evolution in quiet, purpose-built suppressors,” and this new can is the culmination of that tagline.
A solution-driven variant of the company’s popular Nomad series hunting-grade suppressors, this new model takes on-the-move field performance to a new level.
Rated for cartridge calibers up to .300 RUM and 7mm Backcountry, the new Nomad Ti OTB derives its name from its ingenious over-the-barrel configuration.

Rather than positioning the blast chamber fully forward of the muzzle, as with conventional suppressor designs, the Nomad Ti OTB extends the blast chamber back over the barrel, resulting in less backpressure and better sound suppression.
This expanded blast chamber offers hunters a few distinct advantages. First, this configuration means that the suppressor adds only 4.6 inches to the overall length of the rifle assembly.
Hunters who have always avoided a can because of the added length will find this extremely attractive.
Another advantage of the design is that shifting the weight bias back toward the shooter improves rifle balance and reduces fatigue when making offhand shots or when mounted during long field positions.

Design, Dimensions and Price
Equally as interesting as the way the Nomad Ti OTB works is how it is manufactured. Dead Air produces the can via additive manufacturing (3D printing) in 6Al4V Grade 9 Titanium.
That accounts for the unit’s superior strength, light weight and advanced gas management system for optimal sound suppression.
Incidentally, the can is also machined to accept Dead Air’s Xeno Radial Brake, a muzzle device made of 17-4 stainless steel and featuring a 5/8-24 thread pattern. This makes installation onto barrels up to 1 inch in diameter simple and repeatable, reducing shifts in the point of impact.
Spec-wise, the Nomad Ti OTB is 7.65 inches long and 1.76 inches in diameter. It weighs just 10.5 ounces in a super-compact and lightweight package. It features a muzzle energy rating of 4400-plus ft/lbs and is offered in black or FDE high-temp Cerakote finish. The MSRP is a very reasonable $1,049.

Incidentally, don’t forget that thanks to legislation passed by Congress last year, suppressor buyers no longer have to pay the $200 federal NFA tax when making a purchase.
That’s like getting a giant price break on the Dead Air Nomad Ti OTB! Plus, with the Silencer Shop Foundation’s legal fight to end 90 years of unconstitutional NFA regulations, law-abiding gun owners are primed to enjoy many more freedoms!
