Taurus 608 Competition Revolver: Specs, Price & Features

Discover the Taurus 608 Competition revolver, designed for competitive shooters seeking shootability, balance, precision, and reliability.

Taurus 608 Competition Revolver: Specs, Price & Features

Taurus has steadily been building up its revolver lines of late, most notably in its 608 series of medium-frame gems. Before this latest debut, the 8-shot 608, chambered in .357 Mag/.38 Special +P, was available in 6.5- and 4-inch variants, both of which have received high praise from the self-defense and trail-gun crowds. Now there’s something competitive shooters can sink their paws into: the Taurus 608 Competition.

The 608 Competition provides shootability and total balance right out of the box.

The 608 Competition is Taurus’ first competition-ready revolver, built to perform straight out of the box. It’s designed to meet the requirements of USPSA and ICORE revolver divisions without aftermarket modifications.

Custom 608 Competition Features

With an 8-round capacity and a cylinder cut for moon clips, this revolver is built for fast-paced, high-accuracy shooting. The headline feature is the trigger. Taurus tunes it at the factory, and owners can adjust it themselves, with no tools and no gunsmith, without voiding the lifetime warranty.

  • 8-Shot Capacity: Eight rounds instead of the usual six means fewer reloads per stage, in both .38 Special +P and .357 Magnum.
  • Cut for Moon Clips: The cylinder is machined for moon clips, so all eight rounds go in at once for fast reloads during competition.

  • Custom-Tuned Trigger: Unlike most factory revolvers, the 608 Competition’s trigger can be fine-tuned by the owner at home, without voiding the lifetime warranty.
  • Optics-Ready: The rear sight is removable and accepts aftermarket optics mounts, giving shooters a path into optic-equipped divisions.
  • Ready for USPSA and ICORE: It’s set up for competitive revolver divisions out of the box, which makes it a sensible entry point for newcomers and a ready-to-run backup for seasoned competitors.

Price is the 608 Competition’s strongest argument. Getting into competitive revolver shooting has traditionally meant buying a base gun and paying a gunsmith for trigger work, chamfered charge holes and moon-clip machining. Taurus does all of that at the factory.
