Firearm silencers are moving from niche accessories to mainstream gear for hunters and shooters who want better communication, less recoil and safer and more comfortable days at the range or in the field.

The modern suppressor world now stretches from rimfire and pistol cans to big-game hunting models, shotgun suppressors and wild multi-function muzzle devices.

Here’s a look at the companies pushing that quieter future forward.

Why Firearm Silencers Fit the Modern Outdoorsman

We asked Hook & Barrel readers to take a special “Who Is The Modern Outdoorsman” survey in preparation for the May-June 2026 print issue.

One common theme was they crave modern gear packed with easy-to-use technology that will make days on the range and in the field more successful, safe and enjoyable. We couldn’t agree more! Here are some top recommendations and an overview of how times are a-changing … for the better.

Silence is definitely golden these days for American shooters and hunters. You’re living under a gigantic rock covered by a full mountain range if you haven’t yet heard that the silencer industry is booming.

To follow are some bleeding-edge silencer companies leading the way to quieter times afield or on the shooting range.

SilencerCo Helped Make Firearm Silencers Mainstream

One of the key leaders in the suppressor arena is Utah-based SilencerCo. The innovative designers have been kicking tail and taking names ever since their Sparrow .22 LR can flew onto the scene in 2008.

Today’s lineup includes something for every pistol, big-bore rifle, rimfire and even shotgun shooter. Yes, shotguns!

SilencerCo’s Salvo 12 boomstick can hit the scene in 2014 as the world’s first commercially viable, modular shotgun suppressor. SilencerCo is definitely a trendsetter in that space.

Since the Salvo 12 hit, YHM, Banish and JK Armament have joined the party. Still, there’s nothing like shooting a Salvo-tipped 12-gauge clays gun to put a smile on your face.

Bergara and Savage Bring Firearm Silencers to More Hunters

Traditional firearm makers are now moving into the suppressor realm. Bergara, known to produce some of the finest guns in the world by combining the best barrel manufacturing equipment with a resolute commitment to quality and value, recently introduced its first suppressor, the BTi30.

The .30-caliber can integrates advanced gas management, a universal mounting interface and rugged construction to deliver consistent results shot after shot. MSRP is $1,099.

Savage Arms recently entered the suppressor fray, too, with its AccuCan Series.

Like Savage’s full spectrum of top-quality firearms, the AccuCan series has every type of rimfire and centerfire shooter/hunter covered. Models include: AC22, AC30, AC350 (for 350 Legend-chambered rifles), AC30 B.O.B. (Back Over Barrel) and AC338. Prices range from $450 to $1,000. H&B's own Logan Metesh recently ran the Savage's new Model 110 Carbon Hunter with the AC30 and he raved about its B.O.B. (back over barrel) design, which shortens your suppressed hunting rig nicely for backcountry hunts.

EOTech Enters the Firearm Silencers Market

The first optic company to tap into the silencer trend is EOTech. Like EOTech’s premium Vudu riflescopes and second-to-none holographic weapon sights, reflex sights and magnifiers, the new EOTech DCBL cans will keep you on target and in super-stealth mode.

EOTech DCBL suppressors are available in 5.56 and 7.62 models, as well as a 9mm PCC model designed specifically for pistol caliber carbines.

Silent Steel USA Rethinks the Baffle

Silent Steel USA also is new to the can scene. A Finnish-born company with 10-plus years of specializing in high-performance suppressors with patented Flow-IQ gas rotation tech, Silent Steel USA was established in Michigan in late 2025. This American-made, veteran-led team focuses on “baffle-less” suppressors.

Why no baffles? Baffles stop the gases inside the suppressor and cause higher backpressures and other issues.

Silent Steel USA’s thorough R&D of gas-operated self-loading guns and suppressors yielded their innovative structure, which allows gases and pressure to stream through the suppressor and lets the gas vent out and away from the muzzle and operator.

Strategic Sciences Adds Wild Innovation to Firearm Silencers

Now it’s time to add a bit of “wow factor” to the suppressor category, or should we say MFMD category? Meet the head-turning Strategic Sciences company, established in 2020 and inventors of the first and only truly “Multi Function Muzzle Device.”

Make no mistake, Strategic Sciences is all about providing technological overmatch to the warfighter through innovation, science and the principles of service.

MFMDs are hard-use cans, expensive ($1,799 to $11,499) and not super light. That said, the MFMD reduces flash to the point it is not visible to the human eye, reduces recoil up to 79% and is hearing safe on barrels down to 11.5 inches in 14 different calibers.

MFMDs are available in 68 different configurations, all tuned to a specific mission or weapons system.
